Medical Marijuana On The Way To Alabama

Yesterday, the Alabama State Legislature voted to fully legalize medical marijuana! This new bill would create a medical marijuana commission to regulate, license and manage the distribution of medical marijuana in the state.


Doctors would be able to prescribe medical marijuana for those with qualifying conditions which would include cancer, terminal illness, epilepsy and chronic pain. This is where we come in! Once an Alabama patient receives their medical marijuana card, they can access dispensaries which would be permitted to sell gummies, oils and topicals. Vaping and smoking marijuana products would be prohibited in the state.


SB 46 passed in the House 68-34 with bipartisan support last night after there was a nine hour filibuster used by Republicans to block the vote. The Senate approved of amendments to the bill made by the House last night as well with a 20-9 vote. This legislation now awaits for Gov. Kay Ivey’s signature only!
